Until half a century ago, smoking cigarettes on a plane was in fact allowed. It wasn't until the 1980s that airlines started introducing onboard smoking prohibitions. The matter became topical again with the emergence of electronic cigarettes and tobacco heating devices on the market. The smoking ban applies to all tobacco products, including those containing nicotine. Using an IQOS on an airplane is therefore prohibited. Smoking ban on a plane – why should it be obeyed?

 

Smoking on board airplanes has been banned due to the health effects of tobacco smoke. First, in 1988, smoking was banned on board domestic flights where the trip was two hours or less. In 1990, the ban was extended to all domestic flights. 
 
No smoking, heating tobacco or using e-cigarettes for liquids is allowed on board airplanes. So, why do the new planes have ashtrays in the lavatory? Well, the regulations say that a metal ashtray is a piece of mandatory equipment on every plane. The reason is simple – there will always be people who don't follow the rules. Throwing a cigarette butt in the trash creates a huge risk of fire on board. A person who breaks the ban is likely to use a metal container for cigarette butts rather than risk starting a fire.

Yes, you can carry an IQOS with you on the plane. However, you must remember to carry it in your carry-on luggage. In addition, you should know that most airlines do not allow you to charge the device during the flight.

Can an IQOS heated tobacco device be used at airports?

 

Users of heated tobacco devices can use the smoking room if the airport in question offers it. It can take the form of an elegant lounge with couches and tables, or a specially designated room. However, one must take into account the fact that it is also used by people who smoke cigarettes.
